Alternatively called the Horneros or the Avian Potters, these Feathered are closest to the red ovenbird or rufous hornero, building their houses out of clay and being sedentary.
Therefore, their feathers are usually reddish brown in color, but variations in other earthy tones happen. Their hair is slightly thicker than that of a human, and usually a shade or two darker than their feathers, while their eyes are usually black. Their legs are covered in feathers and resemble more closely those of birds.
The first thing that one would notice when arriving at a Hearthkeeper settlement, when arriving at its center, is an ever-burning flame. They see this flame as a gift from their patron spirit, Taba Amara, a spirit of hearth and community with some associations with the sun- "Father Sun".
The fire of the communal kitchens is always lit when possible, but if it must be extinguished it will be lit again with the flame of the central town hearth. Cooking is rarely something done alone, so people tend to eat together. Someone who eats alone can be seen as creepy or selfish.
